Bacterial cellulose is a biotechnological produced form of cellulose. It is composed of bacteria which ferment glucose in cellulose. As compared to plant-based cellulose, the microbial synthesized cellulose features ultimate purity and a higher mechanical strength than steel.
Depending on composition and current state, bacterial cellulose can feel and look like plastic, paper, gel, leather or textile.
The nanostructure is denser than plastic. Even oxygen molecules can’t win through.
While drying bacterial cellulose it is sticking together by itself without needing any additional adhesives.
Smell is our oldest and most commonly underestimated sense. Our brain links scent with locations and situations. When we perceive familiar odors, we unconsciously awaken the associated feelings. Odors affect our mood, create pleasure, sympathy and emotions.
I combined the scent with the main properties of bacterial cellulose which are air tightness, tear strength and the property of sticking together by itself. Thus, I created “scent shots”, which transfers you in the desired mood. The cellulose capsules preserve the scent sealed until the explosive breaking. The cellulose connection detaches in water and the odor can slowly escape.
